Juliette Ni

Juliette (Yunjing) Ni is a doctoral student in sociology at the University of Notre Dame. Her research explores how transitional justice and social movements redress human rights crises. Her dissertation focuses on the transnational “comfort women” redress movement across Asian countries, investigating how collective memory is transmitted across generations.

Ni's research uses interviews, ethnography, and archival analysis to trace the movement's evolving agenda. As a Wilsey Distinguished Graduate Fellow, she examines the ethical questions surrounding the pursuit of justice and reparation for victims of wartime gender-based violence.

Before arriving at Notre Dame in 2023, Ni earned a master's degree in social psychology and a bachelor of science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
