In Practice
The Institute for Ethics and the Common Good (ECG) serves as the catalyst for Notre Dame’s global ethics initiatives, working hard to advance public understanding of ethically-complex issues.
We are currently managing two large, public-facing grants:
- a $50.8 million grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. supporting DELTA, which advances human formation in the age of AI through network building and practical resources; and
- a $10 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation on the importance of love in ethical thought and practice, through the Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., Center for Virtue Ethics.
We also work with institutional collaborators across the country and around the world to support the development of innovative and interdisciplinary strategies to address even the thorniest of ethical questions.

We are looking for leaders beyond the academy looking to address thorny ethical issues where cultivating and expanding the understanding and practice of love in action at their organization is a major priority.
